Colin Pillinger has been hard at work getting the Beagle 2 project under way. Part of the European Space Agency’s Mars Express Mission, it will be launched in June this year, landing on Mars in late December. He took time off to review Albert Harrison’s Spacefaring: The human dimension (University of California Press, £13.95/$19.95) for New Scientist, and pronounced it “fascinating”. “This is a book that could broaden your horizons in the widest possible sense.”
