Police or rescue dogs can now be controlled from a distance or in noisy environments where there is no hope of them hearing instructions, says Temco of Tokyo, (WO 02/15678). The dog receives instructions by radio from its handler via a loudspeaker transducer harnessed to the back of its head, which then transmits sound to the dog’s eardrums through its skull bones. So the dog hears the handler’s voice as if it was only a short distance away.
