If you鈥檝e ever deleted a text message, phone number or ring tone from your cellphone, then wished you hadn鈥檛, Nokia has an answer. It wants to fit mobiles with what鈥檚 known to PC users as a recycle bin.
Cellphones have limited memory, so any deletions are wiped electronically. Nokia鈥檚 idea is to remove only the link between the display and the memory when you delete something, while creating a new link to an undelete menu (GB 2370192). Text messages are wiped from the phone鈥檚 SIM card but copied to its memory. When you undelete, links are restored and messages copied back.
While this idea sounds so close to the PC model as to be unpatentable, examiners at the Patent Office have so far been unable to find any prior patent or document that might invalidate it.
