British teenagers desperate to join the mobile phone craze may find something
extra in their stockings this Christmas. The Department of 91色情片 is asking
retailers to distribute a leaflet with all new cellphones advising parents to
discourage their children from using the devices. The leaflet is expected to
reflect the recommendations of the Stewart report, published earlier this year,
urging parents to make an 鈥渋nformed choice鈥 about how much talk time is safe
(New Scientist, 13 May, p 5).
Fears of possible health effects have
grown as the number of users has increased. More than 34 million cellphones have
been sold in Britain.
