ST JOHN鈥橲 wort is just as good for combating the blues as other
antidepressants. In the largest ever study, more than 300 people in Germany with
mild to moderate depression took either St John鈥檚 wort or imipramine, a common
antidepressant, for six weeks. The researchers concluded that the two are
鈥渆quivalent鈥, but fewer side effects were reported by those taking St John鈥檚
wort (British Medical Journal, vol 321, p 536).
