The US Supreme Court has upheld a decision forbidding Louisiana from making
state schoolteachers read 鈥渁 disclaimer from endorsement of such theory鈥 before
giving lessons on evolution. The disclaimer said lessons were 鈥渢o inform
students of the scientific concept and not intended to influence or dissuade
[sic] the Biblical version of Creation鈥. In 1997, a lower court ruled that this
violated the constitutional separation of church and state
