China and the British Virgin Islands are sinking the unpopular regional
coding system which Hollywood studios use to stop people watching films on
imported digital discs. SMC Multimedia of the Virgin Islands is distributing
Chinese DVD players which can completely override the coding system. When sold
in Europe, the SMC player is set for European discs, breaking no rules. But the
instruction manual explains how to do the override.
