Rupert Murdoch’s News Datacom division plans to use a network of satellites
to transmit pay-per-view movies and gambling services to the seatback TVs of
airline passengers (GB 2 324 395). When an aircraft flies from the reception
footprint of one satellite into another, computers seamlessly hand over the
signal from one to the next—much as a cellphone network does. Card payment
details are also transferred so passengers cannot overstep their credit
limits.
