A computer simulator that can display a chemical reaction in 3D has been
developed in Japan by a group led by NEC. The simulator calculates how
temperature and pressure affect molecules as the reaction progresses. “We use
Newton’s equations to fix the motion of the nuclei and Schrödinger’s
equations to understand the motion of electrons,” says NEC’s senior researcher,
Toshikazu Takada.
