SURFERS in cyberspace are being given the opportunity to send their
signatures flying into outer space.
The European Space Agency (ESA) hopes to collect a million signatures from
the public to put on a CD-ROM that will travel on the Huygens probe to Titan,
Saturn鈥檚 largest moon. The mission鈥檚 Web site at http://www.huygens.com allows
browsers to sign their names using a computer mouse.
The joint NASA/ESA mission to Saturn is due to be launched on 6 October and
will take seven years to reach the planet. NASA is providing the orbiter to
survey Saturn, its rings and satellites, while ESA鈥檚 Huygens probe will descend
to Titan鈥檚 surface.
