Time bombs: Within a day or two of my starting to wear a quartz watch it starts to keep time erratically, running alternately fast and slow. Also, brand-new five-year batteries last only a month. As I don鈥檛 work around any unusual equipment that might affect a watch I鈥檓 left to assume that something in me must be causing the malfunctions and I鈥檝e heard that other people have a similar problem. What are our bodies doing to watches?
