In an article entitled ‘Warren Spring denies car magnet claims’ in the
Technology section of 15 May 1993, New Scientist stated that Warren Spring
Laboratory ‘instructed its solicitors to take action against Technical
Development (UK), based in Saltash, Cornwall.’ At issue were claims being
made for the efficiency of Ecoflow, a magnetic device which Technical
Development (UK) says will improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce
exhaust emissions. New Scientist has subsequently been informed that
Warren Spring Laboratory had not instructed its solicitors to take action
against Technical Development (UK). We withdraw this statement and apologise
to Technical Development (UK).
