Helen Sharman, Britain鈥檚 first astronaut, will not be taking a return
ride into space following a decision by the European Space Agency to reject
all the British candidates for its training programme. Six trainees, from
other European countries, will be eligible for NASA flights and Europe鈥檚
proposed manned space programme.
